OUR PERMANENT MAKEUP PROCESS
CONSULTATION
At FACE FORWARD we offer complimentary consultations for all permanent cosmetic procedures. Consultations are highly recommended (but not required) for new clients so we can be sure that the chosen procedure is right for you and that there are no contraindications that would prevent anything but beautiful, healed results. If you choose to skip the in-office consultation you can also opt for a phone consult just to go over those contraindications before your scheduled appointment. Consultations also allow us to go over in detail the entire process and answer any questions you may have. We want you to be comfortable with your decision to move forward and have all the facts. We want no sleep lost, just excitement and anticipation.
Numbing
“Does it hurt?” Everyone has different pain thresholds so that’s a tough one to answer sometimes, but we do practice an effective 3-Step numbing process. Using all topical anesthetics, we start with a 5% lidocaine gel that we occlude onto the skin for 15-20 minutes. After that is removed we then gently buff the skin to open it up for a broken skin anesthetic containing a combination of lidocaine, tetracaine, and epinephrine to be applied. That same anesthetic is used throughout the procedure as well to stay ahead of any discomfort.
COLOR SELECTION
While waiting for the first part of the numbing to take effect, an analysis of your skin’s under and overtones is assessed. This helps us determine the right color for you. Each prospective color is dabbed onto the skin to compare and help us make our final decision. We use only the best pigments that are highly concentrated and keep to their true color. No changing of color. They stay to a lighter version of the original color. No blue, green or orange colors here!
MAPPING & PRE-DRAW
The shape of your new brows, eyeliner or lips is of the upmost importance to us. When done correctly it can enhance the appearance of the entire face and add balance and symmetry. We take extensive measurements and map the entire face using the string mapping method. This allows us to determine the best placement, length, thickness and shape for your face. Using these measurements as a guideline and considering factors like face shape we then pre-draw an outline for what we think would be best, but you always have the final say.

Now we can get started! After maybe a quick bathroom break and you are comfortable as can be, we will hit you again with a bit more aesthetic while we whip up your color. After that just sit back, relax and daydream about your new beautiful results!
AFTERCARE
Your aftercare is crucial for beautiful, long lasting results. We do our part and it’s important you do yours. Custom aftercare kits are given and explained in detail along with written instructions with your “Do’s & Don’ts”. Myth: “I can’t wash my face for 2 weeks?!?!” Eww. No way. You should clean the area thoroughly the following day. Also included is a “What to Expect When Healing” guide. In the time after your first initial procedure you can expect some light, sometimes spotty fading through the healing process. This is normal and addressed at the follow up.
6 WK FOLLOW UP
After your healing is complete and the color has settled, it is now time for your follow-up. We will evaluate your pigment retention along with the healed color, shape and make any adjustments that may be needed. You are now ready to strut your stuff and wake up to makeup!
